Astrology was an important part of Islamic culture; this miniature actually represents Sol in Leo, the conjunction of the sun with the constellation Leo. What is unusual, however, is that the lion is a composite drawing, or symplegma, made up of many intertwined animals, human beings, and monsters. Sol in Leo also appears in MS M.788, an astrological treatise purchased with the leaf, but in that image the lion is not composite

HAPPY UGADI = TELUGU NEW YEAR =  ఉగాది శుభాకాంక్షలు

a Ugadi celebration i am fond of is eating a special pachadi  (ఉగాది పచ్చడి), where each ingredient symbolizes different emotions; bitter neem means melancholy (sadness), salt means anxiety, hot chilies express anger, sour tamarind for disgust, sweet brown sugar & bananas for happiness and finally tangy unripe mangos is for the unforeseen. These are mixed together then a spoonful is swallowed. The act of eating these unlikely flavors all at once signifies, life is essentially a mixture of contrary experiences (sorrow, joy, fear, anger, disgust, surprise), that shall be accepted as a whole, together in equanimity.
